Prior to
her work with the Alliance, Kathleen was the Executive Director of the
National Study of School Evaluation (NSSE) from 1994-2004. The NSSE is
the research and development arm of the regional school accreditation
commissions, serving over 30,000 schools across the United States.
Dr. Fitzpatrick's career experience also includes serving as a high school teacher in mathematics and music, administrative leadership roles at the school and district levels, university professor, director of the Danforth Fellows Leadership Development program, and researcher and principal investigator with the U. S. Department of Education's research centers and regional laboratories, including the National Center for Educational Policy and Management, the Northwest Regional Educational Laboratory and the Laboratory for Student Success.
Currently, she also serves as Executive Consultant in collaboration with the American Association of School Administrators' (AASA) Center for System Leadership. Kathleen has served as a national consultant over the past twenty-five years at the invitation of state departments of education in over 30 states, the Department of Defense Dependents' Schools, and local school districts across the country. She has also served as a distinguished lecturer with the American Association of School Administrators, the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the National School Boards Association.
Dr Fitzpatrick has authored several publications on educational leadership, program evaluation, systemic reform, and research-based frameworks for school and system-wide improvement focused on student learning.
