Barbara Sessoms

Ms. Sessoms has been with the Virginia Beach City Public Schools for twenty nine years. For the past sixteen years she has served as the principal of five different schools throughout the city. While serving as a principal, she has been selected as the "Principal of Year" twice…once for the 2002-2003 school year and again for the 2005-2006 school year. As she is ever ready to serve, she worked as the President of the Virginia Beach Association of Elementary Principals during 2007-2008. Just last year, her staff indicated how much she is appreciated by choosing her to receive the "Superintendent’s Spotlight Award." The "Family and Schools Together" program has declared her a Community Champion. Her schools have received recognition from many organizations, including the "National Title I Distinguished School Program."
