Cheryl Askew

Cheryl Askew is a twenty-six-year veteran educator who has served as the principal of Ocean Lakes High School (OLHS) since 2005. Mrs. Askew served as a business teacher, computer resource teacher, and assistant principal at Ocean Lakes before assuming the principalship. Before coming to OLHS, Mrs. Askew taught for two years in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and nine years at Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach. During her tenure as principal, OLHS has consistently met accreditation standards as well as AYP criteria, surpassed state benchmarks in all areas of Standards of Learning tests, and has been named a top high school in the country by both Newsweek magazine and The Washington Post. Under Mrs. Askew’s leadership, the teaching staff has worked to create a strong learning community that works as a cohesive, collaborative unit.
