Cheryl Zigrang
Cheryl Zigrang has served in the field of education for twenty-two years. After nine years in the classroom as a first-grade teacher, Cheryl has served the last thirteen years as an administrator at Thoroughgood Elementary School. Her school community has been passionate about teaching 21st century skills to prepare students not only succeed, but to excel. Thoroughgood has received the Governor's Award for Excellence for 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 as well as the Sustainable School Award; Pearl School Award for Excellence in Environmental Education; a Virginia Beach Education Foundation Schoolwide Grant Winner for Learning as We Grow: A garden to teach 21st century skills; a Model Partnership Award with TCI Voice and Data Networks: Building 21st century students for the workforce; and has been most recently nominated by the City of Virginia Beach for a 2011 Virginia Municipal League Award for its innovative Kinderbuddies' Program.
