Irvin "Irv" Beard

Irvin "Irv" Beard, Principal, Birdneck Elementary School, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Irv is in his sixth year as a building principal and his fourth year at a Title I elementary school in Virginia Beach, Virginia with 72 percent of his 700+ students on the Federal Free & Reduced Lunch Program. After serving for 24 years in the U. S. Navy as a pilot, Irv retired on a Friday afternoon and was in a sixth-grade classroom on the following Monday. Degrees earned include a Bachelor of Science Degree in Sociology and Psychology from Southeast Missouri State University, a Master of Science Degree in Business and Personnel Management from Central Michigan University, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University, and an Educational Specialist Degree from The George Washington University. His public school classroom teaching experience is in both sixth and fifth grades. Irv is married to Rosemary Beard, who is a first-grade teacher in Virginia Beach, and after over 43 years of marriage, they enjoy their family reunions with their three children and nine grandchildren!
