Joanne D'Agostino

Joanne D’Agostino has served as the principal of Louise Luxford Elementary School, home of the Luxford Dragons, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, for the past twelve years. Her experience also includes several diverse central office assignments of demographer, planning specialist, and assessment specialist. Those "big-picture" views of the school division provided background and depth to the role of "school architect," also referred to as the school principalship. Through sustained vision, focus, and an innovative culture, under her leadership, the school has won numerous state and national distinctions in the areas of student health and fitness. The school is in its second year of Title One Status. She earned an Master of Arts in Educational Administration/Leadership from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She has taught in public and private schools in New Jersey and Virginia. She has spent twenty-five years with Virginia Beach City Public Schools, with twenty-three of those years in administration. Looking back on that service, she remains in awe of the talented colleagues who have endorsed and currently support her work.
