Terry Ritzel

Terry Ritzel is a Math Specialist at Luxford Elementary and for the past twenty-one years, has taught special education and fifth grade. She earned Teacher of the Year in three Virginia Beach City schools and was a VBCPS Teacher of the Year city finalist and semifinalist in 2002, 2005, and 2012. She has a Master of Education in Administration and Leadership from the University of Virginia, and is finishing her Education Specialist degree in Mathematics Education from Regent University. She has been a citywide trainer for Kagan Cooperative Learning, as well as a professional development trainer for best practices in inclusion, science, and math. Recently, as a parental involvement liaison, her school was recognized by the National Network for Partnership Schools for outstanding activities that encourage parents to be involved in school. Ms. Ritzel has been an active leader for responding to student needs on a citywide and schoolwide basis by serving as School Improvement Coordinator, Math Lead, Science Lead, Inclusion Chair, Teacher Leadership Council, and various other leadership roles.
